@trippdup Suppose Facebook bought your whole family (for free!) and then rented them back to you. That would be an indispensable utility.
@shlevy @trippdup @ozymandias314 LiveJournal had all of that back in 2000 except for likes, and did it better, & they weren't the only ones.

@St_Rev@shlevy@trippdup@ozymandias314 lol no. Livejournal is technical garbage compared to how useful Facebook is -
@drethelin Aside from having a 12 year old code base, what do you mean by 'technical garbage'. -
@St_Rev claiming Lj did everything dacebook does is like claiming PDAs did everything smart phones do except call people. -
@St_Rev your principled stand against Facebook is approximately equivalent to http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sovereign_citizen_movement … -
@drethelin Facebook is the government of the Internet. Got it. -
@St_Rev yes. They own almost everyone I know. Sure I could do the equivalent of moving to Canada or Singapore but it would be pretty costly. -
@St_Rev the point is that regardless of whether Facebook should have the power and reach it has, it has them. Alternatives are worse than it
