What are people finding so useful about Taleb's thinking? So far haven't seen anything original to him that impressed me very much.
@simplic10 Realizing this forces a reassessment of applied epistemology and a bunch of other factors.

@St_Rev Right, I remember some of this stuff from Black Swan, which I read a couple of years ago. -
@St_Rev Maybe it's partly his personality that grates on me; I guess the point you just made is more or less original to him & important. -
@St_Rev Can you give me the 144 char version of why he seems to hate all economists? -
@simplic10 Which is pretty much equivalent to killing tens or hundreds of millions of people. -
@St_Rev Sure... I don't understand though - all economists provided this cover? Are we talking about the subprime crisis specifically? -
@simplic10 ...a) fraudulently captured huge amount of wealth and prestige from everyone else and b) fragilized the economy. -
@St_Rev OK, thanks for summary. Am I correct in jumping to conclusion that the anti-bank line is primarily abt fractional reserve banking? -
@simplic10 Fractional reserve banking is an obsession of the Austrians. Taleb isn't any kind of Austrian tho he respects Hayek. - 2 more replies
