Corey Robin seems to believe that conservatives are _corrupt leftists_. In other words, he thinks they see the world in the same terms he does, but choose expediency/obedience/money, like Cypher in the Matrix betraying his companions for a virtual steak. It's oddly simpleminded.

This is a mischaracterization of his ideas. NB, I've only read the Reactionary Mind. He sees reactionaries (conservatism is largely a product brand) as personally threatened by revolutionary/leftist ideas, so they have no choice but to respond to them.

Burke didn't write Reflections on How Great The Status Quo Is. He wrote about the Revolution In France because it threatened to disrupt the status quo in Europe. Ergo, no Revolution/Leftism, no reaction or so-called conservatism. This is a better characterization of his ideas

Seems like a distinction without much of a difference; either way, right-wingers have no real ideas of their own, just heathens trying to hide their sins from the truth.
