It's also silly? You set the thermostat lower at night, not higher, much harder to sleep in the heat than to loaf around in the heat

Yes, this is evil. My parents did this for some insane reason, I had to sleep with a box fan blowing directly on me.

I'm a 72 but I grew up in Miami

I'm from an equatorial island, but grew up in NYC. I used to wear light clothing in the middle of winter. I love my cool island breeze, but give me an ice cube.

Also a great way to create a mold problem anywhere in the South.
-
Not anywhere in the south. I live in the south and turn my temp down to 78 to reduce humidity and thus prevent mold, and it is sufficient -- probably more than sufficient, but I'm paranoid.
-
It depends on the specifics of your home and AC sizing (oversized AC units will reduce humidity less, leaky homes will let in more moisture, etc.). The 82/85° night/away targets are the real problems. Anything above 50% RH is risky. Above 60% is guaranteed mold.

i was so confused, "why would you turn the heat on higher when youre not home?" literally forgot people live in warm climates
