What gets me about this dead-on parody is a sudden recognition that this isn't just the exact voice of those tedious I Am An Expert threads; it is also 100% baby lawyer voice, the tone of greenhorn pseudo-mastery every law student adopts for about a year after graduation. https://twitter.com/hpmacd/status/1153369562827677696 …

Law school heaves you out into the world theoretically credentialed to do almost anything, from negotiate commercial contracts to defend murder cases. Meanwhile practically you don't even know enough to know that you don't know shit. This is the credential as hubris.

The divide is sharp enough in law, and the profession hierarchical enough, that if your hubris expands to dangerous levels there's usually a senior attorney there to slap some sense into you. But that person isn't there in all professions, and they don't have a twitter account.

Combine that with the usual age demographics here and you realize that Twitter is another cultural engine (like much media these days) which magnifies the importance & reach of that part of our elite with the greatest disparity between credentialed credibility and real knowledge.

And a lot of newbie lawyers get diverted into pseudo-elite professions like journalism, where they're rewarded for their arrogance and irresponsibility (Sarah Jeong comes to mind).
