Update: she just came by, looking bloated and ragged and awful. Hissed at me, hissed at the kittens, ate a ton of food, ran off.

Does the previous litter help with the new ones after they start walking? That’s the way the ferals at our old place did it. Mom would take off and the older kittens would play with / socialize the young ones.
-
Some generations do, some don't. Little Girl is not fond of Shaggy or Tiny. But a few years back, Mr. Soft Fur and Lame Cat were quite friendly with Herman, Lily and Walnut. Before that, Minnie and Porl got on pretty well.

Minnie is the dominant neighborhood tom now, and I think his younger siblings shadow him/he leads them around sometimes. He also defers to kittens at mealtime. He might also be their father, though. You never know.
-
I think most of our kittens came from a tom we called Deadbeat Dad. But there may have been some incest going on, yeah. Probably, tbh.

Could base an animated film on that
