As he implies, it's _interesting_ that of the reclaimed slurs he mentions, 'queer' now names a major political tendency, while using the T-word is enough to cast you into the wilderness. Takes all the running you can do to keep in one place, as a certain Queen once said.

Notably, “queer” is a word of no defined meaning; it’s equally available to everyone from the guy who watched all his lovers and friends die in the AIDS crisis, to the 14 year old girl who likes to dye her hair and isn’t sure if she’s into anyone, really. Entryist fodder.
