Small correction, I don't remember the plot, environment or NPCs. The music, sound effects and textures are burned into my brain forever.

Recently played through it and partway through the first expansion before I realized I didn't care. Wondering if there's something I missed. Doing slightly better with NWN2 but... guess this is why I never finished them before. The UI is just painful!
-
Yeah, obsessively opening every chest for a chance at 5 gold pieces is getting old already
-
All of which is why I felt like going back to Baldur's Gate 1, because awesome writing and characters, but determined to mod the hell out of the UI first because BG1. And that's when I realized EE had 1) disappeared the mod manager and 2) split the community. : (
-
The tragedy of both series is that as characters level up, the designers get better at creating the game, but D&D itself becomes worse, particularly for spellcasters. I remember the BG2 xpac being impossible because of all the screwing around with protection spells.
-
Not impossible, but unplayable unless you were a level 20 wizard and really enjoyed reading up on how to break through 18 layers of defensive spells.
-
Reading this I have a sudden flashback to bubble-wrapped wizards that I couldn't touch and rage quitting.

Never played Neverwinter Nights, but that jibes with my experience playing Paragon Shepard. (IIRC Noveria correctly, to get (your own!) tank you can a) (good) help industrial espionage->shoot your way through guards doing their jobs, b) (bad) finger a weapon smuggler->no deaths)
-
My experience playing Mass Effect: Install for 10 minutes. Start the tutorial. "...this isn't an RPG, this is a shooter. Fuck Bioware." Quit, uninstall.

Single player campaign NWN is like playing demo of the real game: DM’d multiplayer user builds.
-
I remember a lot of good modules at the NW Vault

AFAIR there is a bug (or a plot twist hard to grasp?) in the noble district that triggers hostility towards you after you exit the estate with the artifact. Anyway, they asked for it.
-
I hit that, I think it's for opening the gate without permission. I reloaded and teleported back to the temple instead.

My one playthrough I have any memory of, I was a druid, maybe the only class in the game that makes sense from an RP perspective. Fuck city dwellers, protect nature, abundant disease and corruption to justify all the bear asses you need to collect.
