is there any reason to use glass over plastic dishes other than...seeming fancier? theyre heavier, have potential of breaking, and most damning of all make Literally The Worst Sound if you happen to graze them with a utensil (something they are ostensibly made to interact with)

Plastic scores and fat adheres to it, it's much harder to get clean. Wood's super underrated but it needs more maintenance. Metal's louder than ceramic.

I've seen metal dishes with rubberized bottoms, which dampens noise, but the rubber part breaks down and is impossible to get truly clean.

i cant possibly imagine why someone would subject themselves to metal dishes. pots are one thing (silicone tools are common), but dishes?? unwieldy, clamorous, cant _microwave_ ???

I think they've been phased out by plastics but they were a lot more common in the early-mid 20th century
