is there any reason to use glass over plastic dishes other than...seeming fancier? theyre heavier, have potential of breaking, and most damning of all make Literally The Worst Sound if you happen to graze them with a utensil (something they are ostensibly made to interact with)

i cant possibly imagine why someone would subject themselves to metal dishes. pots are one thing (silicone tools are common), but dishes?? unwieldy, clamorous, cant _microwave_ ???

I think they've been phased out by plastics but they were a lot more common in the early-mid 20th century

Also while ceramic will break it doesn't produce a minefield of death the way real glass does, it's more like rock. I fear glass dishes way way more than ceramic ones.

I saw, just saying the minefield of death makes the distinction important to me.
