Nobody I work with in [China,Uruguay] gets my name right. I'm offended!

That doesn't make sense, they can't be racist. The racist must be you!

I share a last name with a Supreme Court Justice and I had hoped it would lead people to pronounce it correctly, but it turns out normal people don't know the names of any of the Justices.

Since this can only be the result of racism, I assume your surname is Thomas, Marshall or Sotomayor.

The parochial narcissism of wokeness means never having to realize that NO whites names beside English surnames are pronounced correctly here. Every other name has undergone a transformation and still, after one or more centuries, requires clarification.

My first name is Celtic, and so consistently botched that it’s spelled wrong on my birth certificate. My last name is pseudo-French, and no one is quite sure whether to attempt an accent. As a kid people regularly asked if I was a Slavic immigrant. It’s an American experience.

It's base antisemitism when non-Jews pronounce my last name exactly like the English word it's a homonym with (and according to the rules of English pronunciation).

Ditto. We never gave anyone shit for messing it up, well except once when my Nan got out of jury duty by being cranky about it.

A friend's housemate had so given up on pronouncing my last name that she's just tell my friend "Bob Vila called," & everyone knew what it meant. But never in my wildest dreams would it occur to me to call mispronouncing my last name racist. Of course, I'm white, so [shrug]

My wife’s aunt has been calling her by the wrong name for decades. I had no idea she hated white people.

My last name is Welsh and same. Strangers (including ones who aren't white) have looked at it and immediately asked, "Where are you from?"
