_A Christmas Carol_, except the ghosts explain to Scrooge that if he just gives a poor family a Christmas goose, he will own them and their descendants, unto the seventh generation.

I'm old enough to remember when they mocked Donald Trump for inheriting his money and being a failure at making more of it.

My take on this is that saying that you're a self-made billionaire while opposing the same measures that allowed you to become a self-made billionaire instead of, you know, dead, is a pretty bad thing to say.

To evaluate the value of the intervention, you have to look at the whole treatment group. Millions of people grew up in public housing. How many became billionaires?

If I give my Magic Potion to twenty million cancer patients, and one goes into remission, do I get to claim it was my potion that beat the cancer?

I agree! I'm expecting to see an attempt to paint Schultz's public image as that of a wildly successful and talented billionaire who earned his way into his position entirely on his own merit, though, because of the fact he came from public housing.

I figure the point is that in a way *nobody* is "self made", eh?

'We all owe something to somebody else, therefore *you* owe *me*' is a regrettably popular rhetorical move.

I kind of want Schultz to get the nomination now based mostly on how the entire Left hates him with the force of a thousand suns. The history-repeating would be sublime.

Our aristos are terrible.

I see that problem reoccurring in history. You can have a couple of generations of good ones, then you have a weak or excessively cruel ruler mess things up in a short period.
