In the Great Hierarchy of 22 Minute Syndicated Toy Commercials for 80s Latchkey Kids -- The Real Ghostbusters at the top, GI Joe next, then Transformers -- She-Ra is barely a footnote to He-Man, which itself lies near the bottom, barely above M.A.S.K. It's a turd-flavored turd.

TMNT was a weird one-off, though. Eastman and Laird were obscure underground comix artists who somehow hooked into the marketing culture pioneered by George Lucas and blew up.

Cartoon, Action, comedy, and toys. Started in 1987. Seems to fit the genre pretty well. GI and TMNT were by far my favorites.

TMNT didn't start out as a toy commercial, is all I'm saying.
