Lots of exceptions and no particular moral, but that seems like the general pattern to me.

Trump's loathing of the outgroup is a huge problem, obviously, but in terms of intensity it's nowhere near the venom of the
#Resistance's loathing for its *ingroup*. Which is pretty interesting!Show this thread

Further, without durable expiation of your (white, male, etc.) original sin

Yeah, there's no escape but diligent, permanent obedience.

There's no reason to believe anything out of Trump's mouth. There may or may not be carrots & sticks, but they have little relation to what he says. Why listen to him at all? Who knows what he'll actually do? The only thing that's clear: He's as untrustworthy as North Korea.

Sir, this is a Wendy's

There is no carrot, there is no stick, there is no Wendy's. There are only words.

Revival tent vs. medicine show. (Leaving an opening for the traveling circus. Maybe the LP can aspire to that.)

I was mulling as to why Mr. Trump is called a good Christian by the Evangelicals. The evangelical voter is a sucker.

Trump said in one of his books it's easier to sell something if it's bigger. I think this is what you're saying, everything is just bigger; bigger ups, bigger downs.
-
More that Trump deals in flattery and con artistry, the
#Resistance in headgames and abuse. Trump's loathing of the outgroup is a problem, but it's nowhere near the venom of the#Resistance's loathing for its *ingroup*. -
I'd say it's even simpler: exoteric or esoteric? Things in the world outside you, or things internal to you?
-
I like this distinction in loci of moral salience. It would be kinda weird if some politics were to treat with the latter if not to further the former
