I said rap as opposed to hip-hop. It is precisely a type of performance poetry, and a lot more developed than the doggerel associated with other forms of popular music. I'm not a fan of the form, but this is quite clear.

Inasmuch as it's text, it's either prose or poetry. And it isn't prose.

Yes, I agree that it's poetry. But I think it's generally less poetic than written poetry.
