I've been told complaining about it is transphobic.https://twitter.com/JenAshleyWright/status/928740631035437057 …

Somehow I managed to get through this week without bringing up any of the sexual assault or childhood abuse I went through. Almost like I don't belong to a culture that rewards me for building an identity around it.

This shit where if you've ever been slightly irritated ever by anybody you're invited to join the rape victim parade is noxious.

IDK how you know if you've been abused. I asked some adult friends of my childhood family once how they'd know if I'd been abused, and I didn't get an answer. I can ask friends, but I'll get a "friend" answer. I've been told I look like it, but ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

There's the kind where you have a healing process where you recover your memories over time with the help of a good therapist, and there's the kind that actually happened, which you don't fucking forget.

There's the kind where you don't realize how fucked up things were because you don't have much of a basis of comparison as a kid, so you don't realize it was 'abuse'. But recovered memories are bullshit.

I'd like to go back to my childhood with a baseball bat, an invisibility cloak, and less fear of everything. It wouldn't help, but the idea of feeling better for about 2 seconds is seductive.

All the people complaining about finding a voice for their anger or about being ready to explode… I'm like so what? I thought you grew up with that shit & either killed someone or didn't? Go fuck off, you know? You wanna complain about repressing anger *now*? WTF….

It's a way to encode aggression as self-defense. Rule of thumb: the people deploying it most effectively are the people least deserving.

TBH, What I actually thought back when I was stupider was that men repressed it & women didn't; men had heart attacks & died faster as a result, and women didn't.
