Important fact: Every time the Twitter shoves a 'So-and-so liked' tweet in your face, you must quickly and firmly rebuff the Twitter via the dropdown 'I don't like this tweet'. This frightens the Twitter and it will stop doing it for a few months.

Forgot to add: You have to slap down the 'In case you missed it' crap too, same way you slap down 'So-and-so liked', except you have to pick 'See less often' in the dropdown.

I've noticed that they'll pump my feed with out-of-order junk from earlier in the day at times when most of the people I follow go to bed. Doing the "i don't like this tweet" thing doesn't seem to affect it.
-
Is it doing the "In case you missed it" thing? You have to slap that down too.

Sounds like good advice. I'm hearing about some new weirdness:https://twitter.com/mwiik/status/1037358566426988544 …

Twitter is claiming that's a bug.

Or use Tweetdeck.
-
I tried Tweetdeck but lining up the columns on the page drove me insane.
-
You could do it with just 1 column for your TL, and it should just give you a non-algorithmic timeline.
-
If that doesn't work, add all your follows to a list and instead show that list. (This also would work in the regular app.)
-
I tried the list approach, it was stupidly tedious
