Because it tends to be low resolution versions that make their way in society (and low-level academia), treating them as wrong or nonexistent makes it impossible to talk about the ideas actually influencing society. So we do need a label. END

It would be nice to have something analogous to taxonomy in biology, so one could speak of eg genus Intersectionalus or phylum Marxista. But biological taxonomy is riven with political infighting, and the stakes there are near-zero. Political taxonomy is probably hopeless.
