I'm experiencing a lot of cognitive dissonance because it was fun to make fun of "triggering" until I started feeling "triggered" by some certain stuff.

I think "triggered" should be reserved for PTSD. There's also the utility monster problem.

On the third hand, "basically the worst thing happening" isn't a disorder or a personal failing on your part, except to the extent that the world is sick and awful. Been there and I have nothing useful to contribute, except it's not a failure on your part.
