Look at this fucking psychopath. https://www.smithsonianmag.com/science-nature/moral-cost-of-cats-180960505/ … Wants to genocide wild cats, who are friends of humanity, to preserve wild birds, who are not. Or so he claims; but this is as absurd as wiping out wolves to save deer. That's not how ecosystems work.

They're not wild cats, they're domestic pets, imported into eco-systems that have no protection against them

They're just the domesticated version of Felis silvestris/F. lybica, who range in the wild all the way from Africa to East and Southeast Asia. The Americas have plenty of native small cats as well.

But by being domesticated they face none of the rigors of wild life, but all the benefits. Tho cute, they are wiping out indigenous species

A completely wild F. catus is just a normal F. silvestris for pretty much all purposes, ie indigenous in practically the entire old world. Meanwhile, we've wiped out most of the existing predators in the Americas.

Wipe out cats, and you know what will happen? The mouse and rat populations will explode. Which will kill far more birds, because they eat eggs.

Huge literature on rat impact on wild bird populations, eg https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S2351989415000244 … Relative impact on birds v. mammals, _from the original article_:https://twitter.com/St_Rev/status/1003754690629128192 …

“free-ranging domestic cats kill 1.3–4.0 billion birds and 6.3–22.3 billion mammals annually.” Oh, so for every one of your fucking birds they kill five mice or rats? Which is the reason humans and cats are friends in the first place? You son of a bitch.

Humans and cats are friends because cats kill mice. That's the whole source of the relationship. Everyone understands this. You have to be really strongly motivated to pretend to forget it.
