This is like calling a mugger "incredibly brave". You and she should both consider a more prosocial line of work, like garbage collection.https://twitter.com/NoahShachtman/status/1001285940999016450 …
I don't think it's a superpredator so much as a scavenger, psychic fungus; it thrives under/feeds off conditions of exogenous training and funding. eg: communist professors provide a lot of the training but it's not the training that formed *their* views.
-
-
That training is fed into college/postgraduate education, a hothouse for brains. Well-meaning billionaires pump money into activist groups. Gov't policy forms bizarre incentives for HR departments and university administrators.
-
In the absence of exogenous institutional support, I think the memeplex would collapse down to little cult cells. It's ripe for a preference cascade.
-
And the first step in a preference cascade is often open mockery.

I have no idea what I just read. Is this what it's like to be old? Am I no longer hip?pic.twitter.com/06O0oDjf1z
