    Katie became a St. Jude patient in 2011, after being diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia. Now she’s back home and happy to report that her first day of fourth grade was full of friends and fun. “We’re so proud and thankful for Katie,” said her mom.

    Sam’s favorite thing so far about first grade is riding the bus. “St. Jude had such a positive, upbeat environment,” Sam’s mom says. “We were truly grateful for that during our journey.” Two years after finishing treatment, Sam’s scans continue to show no evidence of disease.
