David Jolicoeur of De La Soul, the rap trio that expanded the stylistic vocabulary of hip-hop in the 1980s and ’90s with eclectic samples and offbeat humor, becoming MTV staples and cult heroes of the genre, has died. He was 54. https://nyti.ms/3IgIDHw
J'ai fini Rendezvous with Rama. Je suis surpris de ne pas avoir vu d'open world reprenant cette structure de monde cylindrique. Le concept se prête si bien à un jeu de SF.

#VagrantStory was first out in Japan 23 years ago today on #PS1! It would arrive in other regions in the following months, preempted by this absolutely maverick print ad. Eat your heart out, MGS!? 😂
Review (you already know it's brilliant, we all do!): https://rpgfan.com/review/vagrant-story/…
“That’s God attacking them, not aliens,” Honeywood told them after watching the dubbed video. “Read the script. The ship was carrying God, and now God’s attacking them. It’s very vague, but that’s what they’re hinting at in the rest of the game.”
"Under Baskett, the team figured Xenogears was a typical SF action story, Honeywood said, so their version of the anime opening called the ship’s assailants “aliens.” Honeywood saw it differently."

This deep dive into '90s JRPG localization digs into the revolutionary work of localizers @aokajiya and Richard Honeywood as they brought games like Vagrant Story and Xenogears to the West—and changed games localization forever. twitter.com/LauncherWP/sta…
“Localization is the practice of finding the best version of the original work in a new language... It’s about being inspired to create something that hopefully works the same way as the original — but for a new audience.”

Spotted Online: Either it's real, or the best looking #BatenKaitos fanart ever. But with the game trademarked back in 2021, I'm "Team Real"! Monolith Soft's classic Gamecube RPG BK I+II will delight new an returning players.

If you don’t like Nintendo’s announced price hike, you can always just do what I do and buy massively overpriced Genesis and PC Engine games on eBay, instead.
However, it's worth noting that Sony never announced final sales figures for the PS Vita.
So it's hard to say whether the Switch has sold more at this point or not.
The legacy of “A Canticle for Leibowitz” can be seen in the works of Gene Wolfe, Margaret Atwood, and many other speculative-fiction authors who came after him, as well as in the recent flood of end-of-the-world novels, TV shows, and movies.

Most games feature enemies that frequently appear to bar your progress. Some people might even say you can't make a game without them.
But are they really necessary?
Xenoblade 3 was disappointing, period. Released as a one shot Monolith Soft RPG à la Soma Bringer it'd be fine. Following XB, XBX and even XB2, it doesn't share the same level of story ambition and strong SF twists.
“Tekken’s getting too ridiculous now” we’re talking about the game series that’s had the martial arts bear and demon transformations since the mid-90s, right
A few samples from a collectable 99 card set, focused on a number of Weekly Famitsu cover pieces done over the years...Artwork scans aren't terrible, considering how tiny these are in comparison to the full size magazine covers.
Nearly 30 years old, Daytona USA remains an impressive, buttery smooth arcade racing experience. Jumped through some forgotten password hoops, and finally added it to my 360 today (had it installed on my PS3 since it dropped years ago). Artwork courtesy of DA's '2dforever'.
Aussi réussi soit Fire Emblem Engage, retrouver toujours les mêmes 4 généraux ennemis à mi-parcours est agaçant. Tactics Ogre et sa grande variété de bosses m'a rendu bien difficile.
