Depends on how you translate and interpret scripture, Stephen. Sad old men interpreting scripture to keep women in their place is nothing new. FGM used to be called Pharaonic circumcision, so its origins are pretty well known.http://www.reviewofreligions.org/11450/fgm-not-in-the-name-of-islam/ …

The fact that female circumcision is a *plausible interpretation* is a problem in its own right. And it's not a good idea to pretend it isn't
-
Semantics to suit your narrative that evades the problem with patriarchal interpretations of scripture. Christians introduced FGM to the USA, practiced in church clinics, to discourage Christian girls from masturbating. Plenty of Muslims use scripture to argue against FGM.

The entire religion is patriarchal. That's an objective fact. Why you want to help be a fluffer for such a misogynistic ideology, I have no idea

If you want to know about Muslim women's rights, ask Muslim womenhttps://www.theguardian.com/world/2017/may/07/if-you-want-to-know-about-muslim-womens-rights-ask-muslim-women …

Mmmm. Many of them won’t be open in their responses. I wonder why. Ex Muslim women, on the other hand, are a great source of insight into what Muslim women face. They will tell you anonymously & usually from the safety of a western nation, otherwise they would be murdered.

Similarly, if you want to know about drug/gambling/other addiction, it is better to ask an ex addict rather than a current addict.

Nonsensical analogy.

Nonsensical response.
