Could be. I know I was tried of the Druid/Warlock meta right before Rastakhan, mainly because we'd been using the same decks/classes in tournament/ladder metas for over a year. But things are very different now IMO.

yes. and tbh i think even now the meta is varied and balanced and it would be objectively interesting if we hadn't had the same context for such a long time

What do you mean by "same context"...just the same game mode, ie, ladder, or same context as in "Odd/Even" decks? I agree on the game mode context in that the grind of ladder loses it's appeal after awhile, but less so on the Odd/Even idea.

i mean that we've mostly had the same decks since witchwood came out with a couple of small/significant exceptions and changes due to nerfs, so even though the meta is interesting and balanced, it's just a reconfigured puzzle from pieces we'd already assembled months ago

I disagree with that assessment. I think that was true prior to Rastakhan's Rumble nerf, but not now. Where was Holy Wrath Paladin, Hybrid/Midrange Hunter, Clone Priest and Aggro Odd Mage during Witchwood? Those decks are all dominating the meta.

you're not wrong, but so many of these decks are viable because other decks were nerfed. maybe... i think the way i want to put it is that we're playing with year of the mammoth cards+genn/baku, and even the nerfs don't change that - they just change which cards we use

I agree that Boomsday and Rastakhan's Rumble were low-impact expansions, and not many of the cards from those expansions are seeing play. But we definitely have new decks and archetypes to play with right now. I don't think the meta is at all the same now as it was before.

What’s new aside from Odd Mage? Just because we have four different ways to draw your deck and then OTK someone doesn’t mean those feel like new decks.

Well does playing minions on curve count as different decks? Or removing stuff and winning the value game? Does it mean we can say nothing has changed since 2014 cause we still have aggro/midrange/combo/control?

That's an extreme example, but fundamentally the experience being on the other side of Mecha'thun Warlock, Mecha'Thun Druid, Mecha'thun Priest, Hakkar Druid, Holy Wrath Paladin or Horseman OTK Paladin doesn't really feel that much different.

Your deck is also a big factor to that though. Like, as Mecha'thun Warlock playing vs Holy Wrath Paladin or Hakkar Druid feels very different. On the flip side, every aggro vs control game I've played in 4 years has felt exactly the same haha.
