Can confirm. I talked to family in the area where I grew up in south-central Sweden (~200km north of Stockholm) the other day. There’s been hardly any snow at all this winter and temps well above freezing most of January. This would be unthinkable when I grew up. 1/4https://twitter.com/gretathunberg/status/1223540498205478914 …
Sure, one outlier proves nothing – and this is an outlier even now – but winters have gotten noticeably warmer since my childhood. Occasional mild days were not unusual, but in general December through February would have full snow cover and temps consistently below freezing. 2/4

My birthday is in mid-November. I always considered myself born in winter – in fact we used to say that the first real snow would come on my birthday. It was roughly true. Now most winters hardly have snow before Christmas. 3/4

All of this is anecdotal, of course, and memory hardly qualifies as reliable observation. Still, as a personal experience, it is tangible enough. And yes, I do feel a sense of loss when I think about it. 4/4
