Hi all - thank you for your comments. We wanted to clear some things up as we know this is controversial. One of the big pushes in autism research is to recognize subtypes -- that mutations in each candidate gene have a distinct profile of traits. 1/3

That explains autism’s huge diversity. So this is important and interesting research--to figure out what’s common across the spectrum and what’s distinct to each gene. Here’s some more information on that if you’re interested: http://bit.ly/30ZrD1g 2/3

That is very interesting... I wonder if parents of autistic children have the same presentation?

The researchers are planning to tackle this question next!

I see phrenology is cool again, like in the 1930's.

Mammals have hair and produce milk. Coconuts are mammals. That's the logic they're using.

'The boys were more boyish,' is absolutely the groundbreaking autism study we need. Thank you, Whitehouse. I'm sure this will help my insomnia and will relieve my wild sensory issues.

For sure, next time I'm mid-meltdown in Asda I can think back to my happy place and remember hey, at least I look like a dude, that study was money well spent!

Being
#TransAndAutistic I challenge this research team's methodology. As gender is a -spectrum- it is not realistically feasible to define features exclusively as masculine or feminine. Such standards of appearance are -culturally dependent-. They started from flawed assumptions. -
Also the points of measurement on the subject faces were manually placed by people- THEN measured and compared. It's not really that objective a process.
