And, again, here is the data re: caloric intake (which actually has multiple peaks—one of which (in humans) is at the lowest BMR in mid-follicular! The other is in the mid-luteal phase, when progesterone is peaking.pic.twitter.com/t7jQfiLvBb

To some extent, yes. But women in natural fertility subsistence populations experience coincidence of ovulating cycle & positive energy balance *much* more infrequently than women in more modern populations. —>ovulation a rare event worth temporarily reorganizing priorities forpic.twitter.com/isGVSq7RZC

Yes, that’s part of it. Appears to be (in part) a progesterone-mediated shift in hunger & energy intake to support, well, possible pro-gestation. Hunger also bottoms out during fertile window (likely estrogen-mediated). Idea is basic: tradeoffs in mating v growth effortpic.twitter.com/59pS9hAsXA

I agree that it’s a false dichotomy. The question is: how could we test the extent to which person perception/preference mechanisms are pre-programmed based on ancestral regularities (vs fungible products of social transmission). Here’s how we framed this ? in press:pic.twitter.com/vp9k8J6fFg

Here’s how we framed the issue in Andrews et al (2017,

Interesting takes from
@KayleneMcClan on how dominance-prestige accounts of social rank inform the study of leadership in modern organizations. https://twitter.com/KayleneMcClan/status/1186371936923869185 …pic.twitter.com/olxAgELNap

So, again, all u need to consider are factors of (perceived) self-interest: 1) factors that r perceived to determine departmental prestige and 2) mismatch w/ turf war of search committee. R2 = .85.pic.twitter.com/fCcJetCdtI
