It's interesting. Our third chat, coming out tomorrow, touches on a variety of related topics, but ultimately, my sense of Vipassana is that it's done so well in the US because it simplifies so much & is therefore so compatible with the allure of American Pragmatism.

@evantthompson's comments, might we frame it like this: Vipassana interacts with the world in a particular way, as a prescribed religious ritual with a certain conceptual backdrop, and thus tend to generate certain forms of meaning-making. - 1 more reply

I could not agree more that vipassana meditation is a conceptually structured religious ritual not an investigation of reality as it actually is.
