The majority of my taxes already go towards our town's education system. Every few years they say we need a new school so they borrow huge amounts from banks then make us pay the interest on those loans. This is not the way to educate our children.

Over 50% of our federal budget goes to military spending. We could shift that emphasis a little bit.

Absolutely, we spend more on "defense" than the next several countries combined. We ought invest in something better than death as our contribution to the world.
