Uhg! 100% of legal purchases are not background checked. Gun shows, internet, and selling to your friend. And maybe just maybe if assault weapons were illegal the kid would not have been able to get one. And if he got some that holds less shots he would not have killed many

Gunshows require background checks. Privately buying requires you go to a FFL dealer to undergo your background check. Even selling to a friend. If you don’t take it to an FFL dealer then it’s buying a firearm illegally.

stand corrected with the trade show. Friends purchased a gun between each other. We called the sheriff department here in Alabama and he said nothing needs to be done. Has this changed in the last few months?
-
No Michelle, Alabama is not one of the states that requires you to bring the gun to a FLL dealer. Here's a great resource for your friend! :)http://lawcenter.giffords.org/gun-laws/policy-areas/background-checks/universal-background-checks/#state …

I can not buy a gun online and have it shipped to my house I have my local FFL contact the place I buy it from and it is shipped to the gun dealer. I then have to go to the dealer and fill out the paperwork and have a background check.
-
This is the case in some states! However, in others you are allowed to purchase via a private seller with auction or other and simply send it without FLL vetting. Granting you abide by federal shipping rules. https://www.thetrace.org/2016/01/internet-gun-sales-background-checks/ …http://lawcenter.giffords.org/gun-laws/policy-areas/background-checks/universal-background-checks/#state …

I think this is a pretty good breakdown:https://www.thetrace.org/2016/01/internet-gun-sales-background-checks/ …

Write the bill. Don't wait on the republicans to "listen." California requires one at point of sale. Copy it and submit it.
-
It's already federal law

Then OP is just posting to post.

Nancy pls stop tweeting and start constructive work to actually get this and more done. The only individuals that should be allowed to possess Auto & Semi-auto weapons are civilian police and military personnel. The 2nd was to provide for “the common defense” not an individual!
-
It never says the common defense in the 2nd amendment.

That's so true to bad there isn't some kind of law already where people would have to get a background check when they purchase a gun.

100% of legal gun buyers have undergone background checks for at least two decades.

Wow...how many on this thread saying already are, and yet oh so conveniently omitting gun shows, Internet sales, and private buys? Distort much? The very fact that those deaths mean nothing to some of you is horrific
-
Please tell me 1 law that would have prevented this shooting.
