Read..
http://congress.gov/bill/115th-con …
1. Must first contact the owner about problem
2. Owner gets 60 days to plan change
3. Changes must be made in 120 days
Passed so "quick buck" lawyers can't walk up to any building & sue over access without owner being allowed to fix the issue -
There was an issue with lawyers walking up to a building owner with a lawsuit over ADA accessibility without notifying the owner of the issue first This allows those willing to pay to become ADA accessible to do so But, if they refuse after being told of the issue you can sue
-
That's as far as HR 620 goes. The only thing it covers is preventing people from suing over acces without allowing a building owner to be ADA accessible. Without this, you have a lawsuit & a building that still isn't ADA accessible. Small biz can't afford both lawyer & access.

... and children and grandmothers/grandfathers and ... lots of other people who would be considered full citizens worthy of rights, if only they were rich donors or lobbyists.

Trump has been sued by persons with disabilities 8+ times. Curious this would be passed. Revenge?

Dear
@HouseGOP and@SenateGOP "The Most Dangerous Adversaries Are Those Who No Longer Have Anything To Lose!" 56.7 million people suffer from disability. 113.4 million people are effected by family members with Disabilities. That's an Army of 170.1 million people.#BlueWave -
I've been a chronic pain Advocate since 2013. I've found the biggest issue has been mobilizing my Peers in Pain to fight. I'm truly hoping that the Sessions Attacks & now Congressional Attacks will be the Straw. Chronic Pain Sufferers & other disabled people must fight back now

So basically, as far as I can tell, all it does is protect businesses from unnecessary litigation by giving them an opportunity to remedy any violations before they’re financially ruined in a lawsuit. Am I missing anything Nancy? Do we hate small business now?
-
The litigation is NOT unnecessary. The way to AVOID costly litigation is to COMPLY with the law in the first place so that you don't have to be sued to enforce existing law. That's called COMPLIANCE & RISK MANAGEMENT. It's also MORAL, ETHICAL & GOOD CITIZENSHIP.
-
Actually alot of these lawsuits are shams. I have had clients sued for thing like a coat hanger or mirror just inches too high. There are attorney fees attached that run from the start of the lawsuit. So attorneys use this as a shakedown asking for thousands of dollars
-
From companies, who are often times small business who have no clue. Like mom and pop restaurants, or little old ladies with craft shops. The law closes the loop hole. And allows yime to comlkay before attorneys fees provisions kick in.
-
And yes...my fat fingers went of the rails a bit there towards the end with the spelling, I don't Twitter raespond much...but I think the gist is made as this is something I am very familiar with as a civil litigation attorney.
