Except it is because of Labour, if they had played this whole Brexit mess differently they could also be shedding voters.

60% of Labour seats voted to leave the EU. If Labour unambiguously backed Remain, the Party would be history. Corbyn has followed policy as determined by conference, and now the Tories are collapsing. Anybody who cannot admit how brilliant Corbyn has been is wilfully stupid.

Being a “principle-free careerist” usually involves trying to improve your career prospects. They left a party they strongly disagreed where they had fairly secure seats to form a party that may we’ll get wiped out in the next election. I’d call that them the opposite

They jumped before they were pushed, nothing to do with principle. Their careerism extends beyond parliament - when they lose their seats their establishment orthodoxy means they’ll always find work among the media commentariat and on the think-tank/after-dinner circuit.

These are former members of the Labour Party who left because they more closely represent the centrism of Howard Schultz. Progressives are uniting around Jeremy Corbyn against Theresa May’s racism and austerity while Nancy Pelosi is stowing divisions and subtweeting @IlhanMN. https://twitter.com/SpeakerPelosi/status/1117395599685558273 …

I'm deeply gratified that half my timeline is folks on the left telling the venal, traitorous, turncoat Jim Messina - who worked for Boris Johnson, David Cameron, and Theresa May to defeat British workers - to stuff his "advice" to Democrats.
