1)This is applying self reported data which can be inaccurate 2) this doesn't specify years of experience 3) at times it doesn't even specify what part of their general field they are in 4) this doesn't show inverted ratios, just look at occupations that are 80% male.

In Scandinavia the splits are even worse in terms of what jobs men and women are drawn to. Seems like when people are given a choice, men and women tend to choose differently. Plus, only women can have children, which def has an impact.

This also impacts how much a woman can collect upon retirement both from social security plus the amount she could have put in a retirement account. We live longer than men. I could use that extra 20% now.

It means a lot less money in social security too. I know. I was underpaid (by the standards used for guys in the same occupation) and the extra 25% now would be about 1/4th of my mortgage payment per month. OUCH

I have more credentials but am paid less. When I confronted HR, they said take it out leave it.
