One major reason that Govt. workers need to go to food banks is because they have no savings. This is one thing that must be improved upon. Teach people how to save money for a rainy day or emergency. The fact that they can't go 1 paycheck without needing help is very sad.

Often people can't save money because everything they earn goes to paying for daily living expenses: rent, food, childcare, health insurance, etc. -- all of which are getting more expensive over time while wages remain stagnant. That's what living paycheck-to-paycheck means.

Actually, it is the beginning of a negotiation. Nancy and Company should counter it with an offer, not a flat no and we’re not going to consider any offer. She and the Dems are as complicit as the Repubs on the shutdown, perhaps even more so.
