You never win the game when you take the ball & go home. He’s the President, you’re not. Do your job or get out of the way and let someone else take over. There must be someone in the House that can negotiate.

It's called the balance of powers. Trump thinks he is running a family business where he gets the "Final Word." Pelosi is representing the people, most of whom do not want a wall, but want Federal employees paid.

Their "offer" is insulting. First they take away
#Daca then say you can have it back if you pay 5.7 billion. I mean seriously? Stand firm Mrs Speaker. Stand firm. -
Sounds like they kidnapped DACA and the ransom they're asking is ridiculously high. And they'll use those billions to build something that won't be worth a dime if it's built.
-
Exactly! if the wall would solve the issues fair enough but it wont. They should try going to the source, trio of countries, instead of picking on the symptoms, the migrants. Cause and effect. What's the cause? The countries they are fleeing from.

In Texas where we have border walls illegal crossings are cut down to only 6%. The place is where we don’t have border wall, illegal crossings are at 90% so you tell me if a wall will work better or not?
-
Same in the Yuma sector in Arizona. But where walls barely exist, drug trafficking, human smuggling & criminal illegals who’ve been repeatedly deported flood through! Heroin, fentanyl flows freely though our border, on its way to Chicago, St. Louis, Detroit...yet, here we are.

-
I wish I could see an unbiased cost-benefit analysis. Yet it seems there is no unbiased study source. If a wall would work AND be worth the high cost AND cause no harm, I'd consider supporting it. But I won't support using a gov shutdown to force agreement on the wall.
-
Good point. What I can say is, there is no cost that you can put on human lives destroyed by the illegal drugs taking American lives. Economy wise, we’re looking at $3-$6 billion a week in losses. I believe BP agents saying we need wall. With that said, $5 billion is a deal!
-
But the $5 billion is only a fraction of the full cost. I don't believe a wall will work, esp. in regards to illegal drugs, and the opiod crisis here in America is a bigger threat. But I'm nowhere near the border, so I appreciate your perspective as someone in AZ.

This federal employee wants you to consider the President's proposal. It's fair.
-
No, it's not fair. Americans deserve a working government. End the
#TrumpShutdown then#SecureTheBorder with measure that will male an impact: more security, more judges, more resources for border agencies.#OpenTheGovernment now! -
And what happens when he doesn’t get his way next time? No! You can solve disagreements by shutting down the government. Djt needs to stop acting like a 2 yr old! A wall is a waste of money, OUR money!
-
They had a full year's notice.
-
Notice is not how legislation works. Congress writes the bills and the President signs them. We have a process for this.
-
There’s a little more to it than that:)

How do you know what would work at the border when you and your Dem colleagues refuse to talk to Border Patrol agents? You know, the ones who put their lives on the line each & every day against smugglers, coyotes, drug traffickers, gang members, etc. They want & need barriers.
-
And you know the Dems haven’t spoken to border agents how?
-
1st they say they get their advice from "experts ". They never say BP. 2nd Google it. There is nothing about Schumer or Pelosi talking to BP. They've only gone to the border to inspect the conditions of the border housings. If I'm wrong I apologize.
