THREAD: Republicans are laying out their agenda for 2019, and it’s a nightmare for working families and seniors. #Medicare #Medicaid #SocialSecurity #ProtectOurCare

.
@VP Pence has also promised the Trump Admin & the GOP will try to repeal the Affordable Care Act. Remember: that would lead to millions losing their health coverage & would ultimately drive up costs for everyone who is able to hang on to their insurance.https://goo.gl/HFxLh8Show this thread -
And this isn’t just coming from the White House.
@SpeakerRyan is – once again – thinking wistfully about the possibility that Republicans could devastate#Medicare,#Medicaid &#SocialSecurity in 2019.https://goo.gl/mShHQxShow this thread -
Make no mistake: this is who Republicans are. They’ve had united government for nearly two years in Washington, and they’ve spent every moment looking to either enrich the wealthiest 1 percent or trying to tear health care away from millions nationwide.

Remember we can unseat Kavanaugh when we take control of constitutional mechanisms meant to address this situation. If they won’t investigate, fine do so later & if the evidence is in her favor he’s out. Then he’ll lose his entire career not just the SCOTUS seat.

Sorry. I plan on getting out what I put in over the last 45 years. They should try slashing and burning their own Congress retirement plans first.

No! These are NOT entitlements! We’ve worked and paid for these benefits all our life! Vote Blue!

Better get those ads out especially in red states where the people mindlessly vote for Repubs and against their own best interest

The reason they’re called entitlements is because we are ENTITLED to them as we pay into them all are working lives.

Millions of Trump voters like my dad depend on these programs, but vote for the GOP with an eye toward cutting the programs for younger Americans. So long as the programs are deeply cut for *current* seniors and their meds are taken, I support such limited cuts to the programs.
-
But the programs have worked well for prior generations and should be preserved for future generations of Americans. The programs should only be eliminated for today’s seniors since they voted in the current government believing only future generations would be harmed.
-
I know the GOP will not dare cut programs for today’s seniors, a key GOP constituency. But please ask why it’s okay to harm future generations, but today’s seniors’ healthcare and social security must be protected. It offends me current seniors and Republicans think this is okay.

I'm a senior & I've been working since I was 8 yrs old. At 15 i got my first job where taxes were paid. I didn't vote for this shit show. Many of us old people didn't. There is a lot of blame to go around for why tRump exists, but mostly non-voters & Russia r the problem.
-
I understand your point. I’m painting with a broad brush. Practically speaking regardless of what I think, my generation and future generations will pay. Assuming we live to retirement, the GOP (i.e. *primarily* today’s old white voters), will ensure I have no healthcare.
-
I don’t really believe your benefits should be taken. My point is directed at seniors who don’t care if mine are taken. I’ve also paid into the system since the age of 14 and might continue working into my 70s regardless, again, assuming I live that long.
-
I would like my dad to explain to me why it’s okay for him to draw social security and rely on Medicare, but it’s not acceptable for his kids and grandkids. I’d also like him to defend what his generation (again painting with a broad brush) voted to do to the environment.
-
But at the same time, I am grateful to everyone that voted against these policies. So I do need to be careful about not acknowledging when I am generalizing. I’m also pissed at younger generations for not voting in greater numbers.
