That's a false dichotomy. A republic= citizens vote for their representatives. A democracy=govt by the people exercised directly or through reps elected to represent them. We've used them interchangeably since the Framing-era.

Not false. The United States is a federal republic and a constitutional representative democracy. ... the "representative democracy" part means that the people elect representatives to take care of legislative matters.

It's always great to have more people participating in the democratic process but voters have good reason to doubt the validity of the election counts. I had a mail in ballot rejected because it didn't have the date stamped - the USPS says that isn't physically possible.
