The House will seek to override the Administration's veto, which sought to limit the reproductive health protections the Legislature voted last month to put in place.

I also thank my colleagues in the House for their work to advance this legislation and Senate President @KarenSpilka and our colleagues in the Senate for their partnership.

These are comprehensive and necessary reforms that will strengthen the Massachusetts health care system. I am grateful to Leader @RonMariano, who has been instrumental in reforming health care in Massachusetts, including our landmark 2012 law.

It includes a permanent telehealth coverage mandate, protections for consumers from surprise medical bills and much needed financial assistance to our community hospitals on the frontlines of patient care.

The health care legislation passed tonight advances health care reform efforts backed by the House and brought into fine focus during to the COVID-19 pandemic.

I am confident the House of Representatives will build on this achievement in the time ahead.

As I stated over the summer with Chair González, any legislation we pursue must take into account that the challenges we face are based in structural inequities and systemic, generational biases.

I’m proud of the work of Chair Cronin, Chair @RepMichlewitz and Leader @RonMariano, and am grateful for the leadership and counsel of Chair @Vote4gonzalez and the @MABLLC. I thank Senate President @KarenSpilka as well as my colleagues in the House.

Importantly, this legislation creates an independent agency for the statewide certification and oversight of law enforcement officers as well as removes qualified immunity for any individual who is decertified as a law enforcement officer.

Today we advanced a compromise piece that preserves the thoughtful provisions initiated by the House, particularly on the independence of the commission, and lays the groundwork for continued improvement.

We have been working with the @MABLLC since the summer months to forge legislation that promotes fairness and equality in policing.

I’m grateful to Chairs @RepMichlewitz and Cronin and Speaker Pro Tempore @rephaddad for their leadership on this important issue.

The House today reaffirmed its long-standing commitment to protecting reproductive rights in Massachusetts under threat by changes in the makeup of the Supreme Court. The House acted to keep intact those provisions in Massachusetts that safeguard reproductive choices for all.

The House will vote in favor of safeguarding women's reproductive rights in the Commonwealth at a time when they are under threat due to the new composition of the United States Supreme Court.

On Wednesday, the House will act to overturn the Administration's amendment, which sought to erode the reproductive health protections the Legislature last month voted to put in place for Massachusetts.
