    I’m so excited to see this progress in the Senate! I led the corresponding legislation in the House and we passed it!

    Pleased my bipartisan bill to repeal the 1991 and 2002 AUMFs has been passed by the Senate Foreign Relations Committee. This legislation reasserts Congress’s vital role in both declaring and ending wars—and reflects our strong partnership with a sovereign, democratic Iraq.

    My heart aches for the family of Officer Gunther Hashida as they mourn. I’m forever grateful to every heroic police officer who fought valiantly to protect our Capitol & our democracy when it was under violent attack. May he rest in peace and be remembered as the hero he was.

    A DC police officer who responded to the US Capitol insurrection has died by suicide, according to the Metropolitan Police Department. It’s the third known suicide of an officer who responded to the attack.

    Behavior like this is unacceptable, erodes trust, and is the reason why I introduced the TRUST in Congress Act which would prohibit Members of Congress, their spouses and dependent children from owning and certainly trading individual stocks.

    How many more headlines like this one before Members of Congress are banned from trading stocks? It’s long overdue.
