Why?

Why not?

More interesting than launching blocks of concrete which is usually done on demo flights
-
I bet you could find plenty of science payloads who would love a ride and would be willing to take the risk. Lots of precedence for that. Also how do you satisfy Planetary protection with that thing given the uncertainty of not hitting the planet with a demo flight?
-
Elon has said previously they want to launch falcon heavy on their own schedule and at their own pace, having third party payload would put pressure on their schedule
-
Nope, not if it is a mostly free ride. We take whatever we get.
-
Not at all true. I work at a place where we release things for free to people. People rage if it's not perfect even if it's free.
-
Well said!
I think ppl are even more likely to moan when it’s free, as they have no comeback whatsoever. That’s why I prefer to pay for things. - 6 more replies

This really puts the size of the Falcon Heavy into perspective.
-
This is one of my favorite shots for perspective.

Wow, I always imagined it at being a third of that size. Makes those landings even more impressive now.
-
It's like landing a building
-
For anyone familiar with London’s Trafalgar Square, the F9 is almost exactly the same size as Nelson’s Column.

Was he ever?

This one feels straight out of comical sci-fi

Yes! &it's So F*cking Awesome! Exactly what I imagined Falcon Heavy's payload would be on maiden launch. I love that Musk is Insane!

For a company that claims zero emissions, Tesla cars sure do emit one thing: style.
-
S3XY style

-
Even the rocket is zero emmions as it burns clean fuel!
-
Why is it false? The liquid kerosene and oxygen mix burn mostly clean that's why you don't see a smoke trail like with solid rocket engines.
