I took this during last night's pad visit - they have better lights now at pad. We went vertical about 8pm, and everything looks good for tonight's launch. While no landing, I'm told there should still be some good video on the way down to "water landing". #GoIridium-4! pic.twitter.com/XOuSaWLE7O

It's probably for the least possible damage when water landing. Recovery.

They still recover the splashed ones? Neat, I thought they just sank, or something. :)

The boosters that splashed down on water? Nah. Those just sink into their watery graves. The fairing halves? They have been attempting recovery. No official word yet on whether any that they may have managed to recover are in good enough shape to refurb and reuse.

Awesome. Shame about the boosters, though :( Why, when it's 100% working, can't SpaceX just sail JRTI way out into the ocean to land on the thing? Is it more approach speed than anything else? And why am I asking you this, come to think of it. But you seem knowledgeable :P

Apparently, they may be needing to make room for incoming Block 5 boosters. The Block 3's while reusable weren't yet optimized for maximum reuse.https://twitter.com/elonmusknewsorg/status/944009595957272576 …
