are you planning to recover this one?

Can you imagine the current US space program without SpaceX? Unreal the gaps they have been able to fill.

I'm not interested in that alternate universe one bit

I don't wanna sound dumb but why doesn't it take off when these tests are done? Is it anchored down?
-
Yep - the hold down clamps don't release.
-
Obviously not on the solid rocket boosters but did they shuttle do vertical static fires prior to launch?
-
Not days before launch. Both systems wait/ed for liquid fuel 1st stage engines to report ok before continuing w/ launch.
-
So that means "at launch" the liquid fuel engines fired.. Tested and retorted back aok then solid fuel boosters lit up. Clamps off..Right?

-
Basically exactly this. Once the boosters are lit they cannot be stopped, they can only be depleted.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Uaav5jgU_gA …

You just erased all the Ecological good that your electric cars do.
-
RP-1 and LOX actually burn fairly clean. The exhaust from a launch let alone a 3-7 second static fire is minuscule.
