@SpaceX @waitbutwhy I don't understand the preoccupation with Mars. Why not develop all the tech needed by going to the Moon first? :-)

@SimonZerafa @SpaceX @waitbutwhy because Mars has the reasources for sustained colinization, with eventual self sufficiency. Moon does not.

@MaxFagin @SpaceX @waitbutwhy The Moon does have some resources and is 5 days away rather than 5+ months away if help is needed :-)

@SimonZerafa @SpaceX @waitbutwhy By that logic, our next task should be colinizing Antarctica. It's even closer than the moon.

@SimonZerafa Permanent scientific stations =/= colonies. The moon has great scientific use, but its colonial potential is antarctic.

@SpaceX @waitbutwhy I would think a base on the moon first makes better sense. Mars is a long haul, the moon is easier to escape gravity.

@ConwayAkers No. Moon easier to escape FROM, but harder to get TO due to the lack of aerobraking option. Del-V LEO-moon ~1 km/s > LEO-Mars
