I agree with everything except the 'hardly worked". Homemakers work very hard, especially if they live close to the land.

You’re right. It was supposed to be a statement of relativity (i.e 40 hours of drone work a week, every week for 50 years imo dwarfs (and also likely includes a lot of homemaking) the amount of work required of those who stay at home.
