My notation analysis isn't strict or important--rather it serves as a visual guide! The important 'elements' in the phrase are definitely that long tonic note in the beginning and the following chromatic descent. The duration of those two notes are just arbitrarily quick.

Addendum: Someone made a similar observation with the main leitmotif in FE: Fates which has a really distinct connection to this one as they share the same base notes! The only difference is the lack of a chromatic descent particular to this lick.https://twitter.com/maid2r/status/1238325221150429184 …

Anyway, if anyone else who sees this has any other particular examples of this phrase, or similar sounding ones, please share it here! This particular 'lick' has been so influential in my own writing that I've subconciously incorporated it into so much of my own work.

Oh yeah I totally remember this from the tournament music in Brawl (0:07). Loved it. Totally began applying it to some of my melodies: https://youtu.be/IutR06XsPPc

My god, that tune brings back memories. I remember one time not-cheering for CPU Falco, and THAT's how I got him to win, apparently. :s
