There was a letter in the FT a while ago from some aristo who wanted hs title to go to his daughter rather than his feckless son & was asking how to do that. Answer was that it depended on the legislation which created his title - which might be medieval, ie tricky to change now.

It is linked to the ‘golden boy’ in other families - where there is nothing to inherit except status above the girls. It should be sorted out once and for all.
