Before computers, Jean Golding sorted through data sets using cards and a thread. Loved this interview with one of the original data scientists (before it was a thing). Proud that Jean Golding’s life changing work continues at my alma mater !

I got this on LinkedIn today. I LOVE it when podcast listeners get in touch. I really feel a connection with them, and it’s good to know that it’s mutual. If you have a favourite podcast, tell the host! You could leave a review or get in touch. It really does make a difference.

When I worked at Amazon we used to make some software slow on purpose. Then when a problem caused real slowness, we’d remove the fake delays and things would feel normal. The fake delays made users happier, even though they all wanted faster software. Makes you think.
