I mention that now because the election truther stuff is in the same realm: it’s just a torrent of tidbits, many of which are proven to be false after they go viral, all of which are intended to demonstrate that SOMETHING HAPPENED and therefore THE OUTCOME IS ILLEGITIMATE.

JFK really is one of the best-edited movies … I dunno, ever. The rapid-cutting and fast-paced dialogue and switching film stocks *perfectly* resembles what it’s like to talk to a truly committed conspiracy theorist. It’s like entering a wholly different realm of existence.

“explain these you coward” “Even if I did your googling for you, you wouldn’t stop believing in your conspiracy theory.” “that’s what i thought … can’t handle the truth"

Oliver Stone decided to open JFK with the Rose Cheramie nonsense, and that was enough for me.

Wrong. Maddow’s is string of factual disparate tidbits sewn together to form a theory however weak, but based on fact. What’s wrong is your comparison to election birtherism which is repeatedly and demonstrably based on total BS.

You might have added that the basis for "JFK" (the movie) was a KGB active measure planted in an Italian newspaper.

I’m also just not terribly interested in “is JFK true?” though, because I know it isn’t and didn’t expect it to be.

You may have been correct about her at the time, but these two things are not the same, at all. Russia involved things that happened, even if many of the conclusions were wrong. What’s happening now has zero basis in fact. Bad take.
