I would read a piece about New Yorkers buying cars to avoid public transportation in the midst of COVID. Has anyone written this piece?https://twitter.com/jbarro/status/1321826421711491077 …

Public transit is oppression. Cars are freedom. These are bedrock truths.

Yes, the freedom to spend 2 hours circling your Brooklyn neighborhood looking for a parking space.

Exactly. Freedom everywhere else. A giant burden in NYC.

One of the main reasons I left New York was that I missed having a car...

The old motor oil commercial jingle was true: “It’s not just your car. It’s your freedom.”

Okay you make fun but i went for a few years without a car in Manhattan and then a year without one in VA and now that we got a car again it is INCREDIBLY liberating.

Yeah, I remember pretending that riding the bus and the train in DC was just as good as having a car for years. But those were all lies and fables, myths I told myself to make myself feel better despite living in a despotic system that restricted my freedom of movement.

Having a car in
#NYC is an oppression & burden that weighs on the hearts of New Yorkers. Waking up in the middle of the night in a panic screaming "Did I move the car?" Or having to make a reservation to get your car out of the $600 a month garage. Car ownership in NYC is hell! Thanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo
